From its roots as a small credit union for Penfield educators, Family First Federal Credit Union is now a full-service financial institution with more than 10,000 loyal members.

Family First actually began in the home of Penfield teacher Dick Dennison and was known as Penfield Central Federal Credit Union. They merged with BOCES Federal Credit Union in 1983, and soon after changed their name to Penfield Federal Credit Union. And in 2002, to reflect its growing and diversifying membership, the organization adopted its current name of Family First Federal Credit Union. Since its founding in 1969, Family First has stayed true to its original promise of “people helping people.” Not only do they provide top-notch service to their members but they are one of the area’s most community-minded financial institutions.

Family First Credit Union supports the local community through monetary contributions, individual contributions of time and talent by Family First employees, providing financial literacy education, and awarding scholarships to local college bound high school students who are members of Family First. CEO Christine Peters and her dedicated staff are involved in numerous community activities and organizations, including many here in Penfield.

After 40 years, they still maintain their values of family, integrity, relationships, service and trust.
